GOLF COURSES are both highly visible and extensive consumers of surface and ground waters for irrigation purposes. Efforts are frequently focussed on limiting this consumption due to societal, cost and other pressures, whilst at the same time, course management are facing demands from committees, players and other parties to maintain exceptional turf quality standards throughout the course. One of the problems leading to inefficient and possibly excessive water use is the phenomenon of water repellent soils.
Water repellency in soils supporting highly managed turf grass areas is a well known occurrence, and leads directly to irrigation inefficiency, excessive evaporation, and poor turf quality during dry periods in spring and summer.
Fairway Drench gives Sports Turf Managers the ability to optimize hydration and infiltration of water across a wide range of soil and turf types. Soil types can range from hydrophobic sands through to compacted soils, hard to wet areas on mounds and in wind blown locations, and areas of high organic content that can be susceptible to dry patch.
Turf types that will benefit from a Fairway Drench application programme will include all turf areas that are not treated within any other normal surfactant programme. These can include T boxes and fairways, greens surrounds and bunker faces, and roughs and other ‘non play’ areas.
Fairway Drench is formulated from a range of penetrants and other multi-complex surfactants to promote fast initial water infiltration into hard to wet soils or through other hydrophobic barriers, and will optimize hydration for even and thorough distribution of water throughout the soil profile and root zone.
APPLICATION RATES
Green surrounds, Tees and fairways:
Tank mix 5 to 10 litres per hectare.
Repeat after15 to 30 days.
Repeat with 2.5 to 5 litres per hectare every 30
days or as required.
Inject 2.5 to 5 litres per hectare.
Repeat after 15 to 30 days.
Repeat at 30 day intervals or as required.
